"undisclosed security threat" part 2

Seems someone wanted to blow-up LCC or threatened to. Not sure if this was real or what. I do have pictures of the bomb dogs that were around, however. This one is entering the AOF building where my office used to be. Usually you can't find any news at the Lansing State Journal but they did supply pictures this time.

Keep your head down . . .

I try. My office and classrooms are in the basement of a building. I'm not sure if that is good or bad (structurally speaking) however.

Protects you from shrapnel injury, one of the major casualty-vectors in a bomb attack. Structural collapse, not so much . . .

(The twin towers were a successive pancake failure.)

Basement is also tornado shelter so I have to listen to the constant announcements but don't have to go anywhere. The good and the bad of being underground with no windows.

AND there may be something to the threat. Seems they haven't reopened the school and are now saying that they may (not will) open back up tomorrow.

Edited to add: Michigan State Police bomb squad is still on campus as of this time. They aren't saying if they found anything.

Hmm. Usually they clear buildings faster than that. Sounds like the dogs alerted for something. Or maybe they freaked out in the Chemistry department?

Well it is 9 city blocks of buildings (14 total most 3-5 stories tall) and all the steam tunnels under it all. Don't know how many dogs they had either. In the pictures it seemed to be only two dogs.

-- all clear was issued a couple of hours ago. Hopefully I'll know something in the morning, like if they actually found a bomb.

Bombs and schools really trigger something here because of the Bath School Bombing in 1927. We also had Terry Nichols and still have all those Michigan Militia crazies to make things interesting. Though I don't know what anyone would have against LCC. We aren't even the biggest school in town -- we only have 25,000 students, big green down the road has a whole lot more.

Really like the graphical design and navigation of the site, easy on the eyes and good content. other sites are just way too overflowing with adds.
