unions

As a union member for most of my working life I am appalled at what is happening in WI. It pisses me off when people forget their history or never paid any attention in history class. Are people stupid enough to think that all the work laws came about because corporations are nice? Everything that all those people take for granted are laws because of the unions. They don't care to know about things like what happened in Lawrence or Matewan. "Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it."

I realize I'm preaching to the choir but even in Michigan Snyder wants to turn this place into a "right to work" state. People voted for him and are now complaining. "I did't think he meant it" seems to be heard in a lot of places these days.

This is what I am thinking about today. A song arising from the Lowell strikes:

Oh! isn't it a pity, such a pretty girl as I
Should be sent to the factory to pine away and die?
Oh! I cannot be a slave, I will not be a slave,
For I'm so fond of liberty,
That I cannot be a slave.

I damn all the idiots who are happily putting on shackles again. I will fight in any way possible.

I now step down from a metaphorical soap box.
