Drove to Zingerman's in Ann Arbor for lunch today. It is a goodly drive for a sandwich but such a sandwich. I think they make the best sandwiches in the world. Once a friend and I almost arranged for pastrami sandwich delivery by helicopter. It involved a guy who was going to be in Ann Arbor with a helicopter, the brother of a co-worker who was going to provide pick up & delivery to the airport, a number of people involved just so a bunch of us in Lansing could have pastrami. The story has been told many times but only one person ever actually understood and just asked if the pastrami sandwich was with or without mustard. Answer: no mustard, why ruin perfection.

Zingerman's can be found at: http://www.zingermansdeli.com/content/pages/home.php

No photos (Cami brought a camera but I don't have the pics right at the moment) but I have the delightful illustrations from their menu.

I was trying to place the place, followed your link, and discovered why the name drew a blank. Zingerman's didn't exist when we lived there . . .

They started about the time I moved here, a bit over 25 years ago. A friend who lived in Ann Arbor introduced them to me and I have been driving down for lunch for many years. They now also have a restaurant over on Stadium. The original is still the best to my mind.
