Thunderstorms early, sun now with humidity. More thunderstorms predicted for later tonight.

Took some garden photos but the rain this morning really destroyed one of my favorite daylilies.

Others in the front yard that survived the deluge.

Some salvia that is particularly splendid.

And what is going to be on the menu for dinner -- dinner being pesto. Yumm!!

Two separate events, one a meet and greet with non-native species (so we could actually hold them).

First saw an Augur Buzzard (Buteo rufofuscus) named Keeoo. African relative of the Red Tail hawk.

Then someone else's photo op with Xena the Eurasian Eagle Owl (Bubo bubo). She is one big bird.

Then in the afternoon in the large function room more birds, some flew from one keeper to another which was fun. Being so close to them actually flying was pretty amazing. I missed photos of the bald eagle as I was juggling dead batteries in my camera.

First up was the Harris Hawk (Parabuteo unicinctus) named Tequila.

Then Xena and a small relative Twig, an Eastern Screech Owl (Otus asio). Twig paid careful attention to Xena at all times. Xena on the other hand paid attention to the crowd.

Goblin was up next, he is a Barn owl ( Tyto Alba ).

Then Sassy, an American Kestrel ( Falco sparverius).

Lastly the joker in the bunch. Lenore, an African White Naped Raven (Corvus albicollis). Lenore likes to collect things and flew around collecting objects from volunteers in the audience. She then sat on top of the collection box and took bills from people and stuffed them into the box. Fun was had by all.

Camille did a great job of describing the Masters of Lightning show at DucKon. So I'm just going to quote her: "Today at Duckon the man in the metal suit, standing in a mud puddle while being struck by lightening, accidentally set fire to his flame thrower four times."

I got some pictures but most of them are not that great but I include them for your viewing enjoyment anyway. I was sitting right behind the control booth so you get to see that as well.

Burning lots of CDs at once!

Video is much better -- here is stuff from previous shows.
