cold with raptors

I headed out early for a Dr. appointment. As I pulled out of the drive I was overflown by a fairly large bird. Said to myself "hawk". I had to wait to get across the four lane but in the next block up I drove past her perched in a tree looking none too warm, hunkered down and feathers floofed. It was my friend the Christmas Tree Ornament (tm). Hadn't seen her in about 6 weeks and was beginning to worry. Her favorite perch was the spruce tree in the neighbors front yard. Alas the neighbor cut it down so it is harder to see the hawk in the trees.

As I came out of the Dr.'s office and turned on to the road I saw a smaller hawk perched in a tree. I was moving too fast to make an identification, but shape hawkish. I ran errands and went by a wooded area in the "MSU back forty". Saw what I believe to be a Sharp-Shinned hawk take down a small flying something. I've seen this hawk hunting in this area before.

So all in all it was a three hawk day. Weather beans saying 3-5 inches of snow later today and tonight. I'll believe it when I see it.

The size comes with the personality. Mainly Clown cats are too much fun.

    You could have had normal-sized cats . . .

We had four days in the 50-60s two weeks ago. Our snow went and the floods came. We are supposed to get 2-4" tonight and then it gets warm again.

We saw a couple of crocuses blooming in the next block, yesterday. Ours are still under a 3' snowdrift.

Not old enough for Medicare yet. My problem is my doctor & she needs to become my ex-doctor ASAP.
