The other unseasonal thing is the institution of road repair season. The city of Lansing is bisected by two rivers the Grand flowing WNW and the Red Cedar flowing WSW. There are four major bridges in the downtown area. From north to south: Oakland - 4 lanes going west, Saginaw - 4 lanes going east, Shiawassee 2 lane two way and Michigan 4 lane two way. They have decided to replace the Saginaw St. bridge. It was built in 1929 and hasn't seen much work since and was falling into the river chunk by chunk, so it needs replacement. However, it just made getting around Lansing a whole lot more interesting (for various negative definitions of the word interesting).
I've attached a picture. LCC Main Campus occupies the areas bounded in purple and some west of marked. They say the bridge replacement will take until the end of the year (fingers crossed). I am not holding my breath!
They turned Oakland (4 lanes going west) into one lane going each way. Luckily this evening I left school after 8pm so it wasn't bad but I have to find a new way to commute.
