yesterday in the garden

Was out assisting in weed removal yesterday. For my part it is of the nature of "that there is a weed and all of it needs to be removed from this (pointing) area". Me in wheelchair rather than trying to stand for a long time balancing on crutches. Kari is doing a great job of weed removal. Also planted tomatoes plants, basil in a pot on the front porch and pole beans. I went to the local garden center and actually only bought what I had come for. Karren was not so focused but then she doesn't need assistance planting whatever she buys.

Saw lots of honey bees, they are particularly fond of the Baptista at the moment. Lots of butterflies as well, mostly Cabbage (pieris rapae) at the moment but also a Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus), a Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus Linnaeus) or that is what it looked like from a distance and one I'm not positive about but I think was an Aphrodite Fritillary (Speyeria aphrodite). Wearing the right glasses would have helped in identification.

Pictures of newest openings will follow later. At the moment I'm waiting for a repair person -- so proximity to the phone is essential.
