plants for the day

Starting at the front door, a pot of basil (makes pesto making easy).

A pink poppy that is almost open -- it was mislabeled, I thought it would be another red one but pink is nice.

In the back of the house the peonies are in full bloom. Multiple varieties.

And more roses opening. These are both Gallicas which I love for the scent and the fact that I can have purple roses. Belle de Crecy opens a cool pink and changes to violet as it ages.

This last Gallica is Cardinal de Richelieu. The rose is a very dark crimson-purple. I could not get close enough to get a picture from the front but at least you can see the color.
